Terms of Service

Effective May 1, 2026. Questions? Email hello@stringhive.com.

Welcome to Stringhive, a service operated by Blendbyte Inc. ("Stringhive", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the service, you're agreeing to these terms. If something isn't clear, just ask: hello@stringhive.com.

1. What Stringhive does

Stringhive is a translation management platform for developer teams. You push source strings from your codebase (via our Laravel or Node.js SDKs, or by importing PHP or JSON files), manage translations across languages using a translate/review/approve workflow, and pull the translated files back into your project.

We provide the tooling. You and your team do the translating. External translators you invite to a hive get access only to the workflow for that hive and nothing else in your account.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Stringhive. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. If you think your account has been compromised, let us know right away.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Teams and hives

Each account belongs to a team. Teams contain hives, and hives contain your translation projects. You can invite people to your team as managers, or invite external translators to specific hives.

As a team owner, you're responsible for the activity of people you invite. Make sure anyone you add is aware of and agrees to these terms.

4. Your content

Your translation strings, source content, and any other data you bring into Stringhive belongs to you. We don't claim any ownership over it.

By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to operate the platform. We don't use your translation content to train AI models or share it with third parties except where necessary to provide the service (see our Privacy Policy).

Please don't import content that you don't have the right to use, or anything illegal, harmful, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property or other rights.

5. Third-party services

Stringhive integrates with third-party machine translation providers (such as DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, Microsoft Azure Translator, and OpenAI). When you use machine translation, your content is sent to the provider you have configured using your own API credentials. Your use of those providers is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the behaviour, availability, or output of any third-party service.

We do not mark up third-party API costs. You are billed directly by those providers under your own accounts.

6. API access

Paid plans include access to the Stringhive REST API and native SDKs. Your API tokens are secret — treat them like passwords. If a token is compromised, revoke it immediately from your settings.

Don't use the API to scrape, abuse, or overload the platform. We reserve the right to throttle or revoke API access if it causes problems for other users or the stability of the service.

7. Billing and subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle. Payments are processed by Paddle, our payment provider, who acts as Merchant of Record and handles sales tax and VAT on our behalf.

Plans are priced by string count, not by seat or word count. If you exceed your plan's string limit, additional strings are billed at $5 per 5,000 strings per month. We will never charge per word or per translation.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time from your account settings to prevent the next renewal. Downgrading mid-cycle takes effect at the next renewal date.

We reserve the right to change our pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes take effect at your next renewal after the notice period. If you disagree with a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.

8. Refunds and cancellations

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals — you keep full access to your plan until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free plan.

We offer a 14-day refund on new paid subscriptions. If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days of your first payment on a given plan tier, contact us at hello@stringhive.com and we'll issue a full refund. This applies once per account per plan tier.

Outside of the 14-day window, subscription payments are non-refundable. We don't issue partial-month refunds for mid-cycle cancellations.

If we terminate your account for a breach of these terms, no refund will be issued. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund a pro-rated portion of any prepaid fees for the unused period.

9. Intellectual property

Stringhive, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. These terms don't grant you any rights to our name, logo, trademarks, or the underlying platform beyond what's needed to use the service.

Our open-source SDKs (stringhive/laravel and stringhive/node) are released under their respective open-source licences, which govern your use of that code independently of these terms.

10. Fair use

Please don't use Stringhive to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property or other rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or systems
  • Interfere with the service or other users
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the platform
  • Resell or sublicence the service without our written permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Stringhive and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your breach of these terms.

12. Availability

We work hard to keep Stringhive running reliably, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. There may be scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, and things will occasionally break. We'll communicate planned downtime in advance and restore service as quickly as possible when something goes wrong.

13. Termination

You can close your account at any time from your profile settings. When you do, we'll delete your data in line with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms. Where reasonable, we'll give you notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach before taking action.

14. Limitation of liability

Stringhive is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific requirements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the service.

Our total cumulative liability for any claims arising under these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or with a notice in the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Stringhive after that means you accept the updated terms.

17. Questions?

If anything here is unclear or you have a concern, please reach out. We read every email: hello@stringhive.com.
